In science, we will continue to learn about the Greenhouse Effect and ways that we can help the earth.

Parent conferences are this Tuesday, October 28, from 4:00 to 5:30 pm.

October 19-23

This week we are completing our information books about animals.  We have brainstormed, planned, researched, written, and illustrated!! Each student included different text features to make her book more interesting and easier to read.

This week in math, we will be using different methods to add and subtract 3 digit numbers.  We will also learn how to solve word problems.  You can help your child solve word problems like this at home:

Mariam has 25 books.  Her sister has 52.  How many more books does Mariam's sister have?
52-25=27
Mariam's sister has 27 more books than Mariam.

There are 575 male students at MBM.  There are 434 students at MBM.  How many total students go to MBM?
575+434=1 009

If there are 1009 student at MBM and 93 are absent today, how many students are present?
1009-93=916

We will continue learning about how the earth changes in Science, concentrating on the greenhouse effect and how we can help the earth.

Informational Book Research

Next week, each student will write a short informational book about something that interests them.

Tuesday. 7 October, students need to bring in research from home (from books or the internet) to help them write their book.

Students may choose anything that they are interested in...a sport, country, animal, famous person.

Thank you for your help!
